Optional email notifications for respondents

Feedback givers can leave an email to hear about replies. It's encrypted and hidden from the box owner; only the system can decrypt it to send reply notifications.

After submitting feedback, a person can optionally leave an email address to be notified when your team replies. It's entirely optional — the private conversation link works with or without it — and it's designed so the email never undermines their anonymity.

How subscribing works

  1. After submitting, the success screen shows "Get notified when you get a reply" with an email field.
  2. The person enters their email and clicks Subscribe.
  3. They receive a confirmation email for that conversation, with a button back to it.
  4. Whenever your team replies, they get an email with the reply and a link to continue the conversation.

Subscriptions are per conversation — subscribing to one conversation doesn't opt anyone into anything else.

How the email stays private

The email address is encrypted and hidden from the box owner; only the system can decrypt it to send reply notifications. As the box owner, you never see the address, and nothing in your Inbox or conversation view connects a submission to an email. Notification emails are sent by JellyForm, not by anyone in your organization.

Anyone who prefers not to share an email can skip the field entirely and check the conversation link for replies instead.

Unsubscribing

Every notification email includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it opens a page showing the conversation's subject, box, and organization, with a single button to stop notifications for that conversation. Unsubscribing doesn't close the conversation — the private link keeps working, and the person can keep replying.

What box owners should tell their team

When you introduce your feedback box, it helps to say this plainly: "If you leave an email for reply notifications, we can't see it — it's encrypted, and only the system uses it to send you the notification." Being able to explain the mechanics is often what convinces a skeptical team to use the channel.
