Export conversations to CSV
Export a box's conversations to a CSV file — you'll get an email when it's ready. Available on Team plans and above.
You can export a box's conversations to a CSV file and open them in Excel, Google Sheets, or any tool that reads spreadsheets. CSV export is available on Team plans and above.
Export from a box
- Open the box and go to the Inbox or Insights tab.
- Select the Export button.
- Choose Export as CSV. (There's also Export as JSON if you want a structured format with nested messages.)
- The file downloads straight to your browser.
Exporting from the Inbox respects your current view: the tab you're on (all, assigned to me, unassigned, or closed) and any filters you've applied — priority, sentiment, category, and date range. Set the view to exactly what you want, then export it. The dropdown shows how many conversations will be included before you confirm.
What's in the file
The CSV contains one row per message, so a conversation with three messages spans three rows. Each row carries the conversation's details, your custom field answers, and attachment information, alongside the message content and sender. That layout makes it easy to filter, pivot, and count in a spreadsheet.
Large exports arrive by email
Exports of fewer than 1,000 conversations download immediately. At 1,000 or more, the export is prepared in the background instead — you'll see a note in the export menu, and you can keep working while it runs.
When it's done, you'll receive an email titled "Your export is ready" with a Download Export button and the conversation count. The download link expires 7 days after the export is ready; the email states the exact expiry date, so download the file before then. If an export can't be completed, you'll get an email about that too — try again, and if it keeps failing, narrow the export with filters to reduce its size.
What's not included
Locked submissions — feedback received beyond your plan's monthly allowance — are not included in exports. They're still stored and unlock automatically at the start of the next month, or immediately when you upgrade; no feedback is ever lost. See Submission limits & locked submissions.
Need just one conversation? Open its actions menu and choose Export Conversation, then pick CSV or JSON.
